Ruhnu Island – A Hidden Gem of the Baltic Sea

Ruhnu Island is an extraordinary and little-known destination nestled in the Gulf of Riga, closer to the Latvian coast than the Estonian. This remote island feels like a living ethnographic museum – a place where time stands still and people still live in harmony with tradition and nature.

Our one-day journey begins with a 35-minute private flight from Riga, offering spectacular views over the Baltic Sea. Upon landing, we hop on bicycles and set off on a guided cycling tour through the island’s most remarkable sights.

You’ll visit the legendary wooden church, one of the oldest in the region, which once served as a refuge for Duke Jacob of Courland during his exile. We’ll continue to the 19th-century Ruhnu lighthouse, a silent sentinel by the sea, standing as a symbol of resilience and maritime history. Between pine forests and sandy beaches, you’ll feel the rhythm of life as it used to be – peaceful, slow, and deeply connected to the land.

The experience is crowned with a delicious authentic lunch at a local island restaurant, where you’ll enjoy traditional flavors and warm Ruhnu hospitality. Refreshing drinking water is also provided throughout the day.

After a full day of discovery, nature, and quiet joy, we take a scenic flight back to Riga, carrying the rare stillness of Ruhnu within us.
